All 4 of my machines can no longer send SSL emails using NTLWORLD but can using GMX. Just another reason to drop SSL and try without it. Yah**! Well, to the best of my knowledge, Thunderbird and Outlook are two different pieces of software written and published by two different companies. In this case the error might be coming from that program, not from the real server. Some A/V just choke and die on SSL, other simply make a mess of everything and some sort of work.
If this happens to you the workaround is to add an alias for outlook.com. "An alias is an additional email address that uses the same inbox, contact list, and account settings Make sure that your Incoming and Outgoing configuration was detected properly and matches the one you can see on the screenshot below: Click Done if it is the same. We changed it to a one about 8-10 characters long, again with special characters. We're not affiliated or endorsed by the Mozilla Corporation but we love them just the same.
He double-checked the password on the POP3 server, and it's correct.
