Time Machine Backup Error Code -8003
To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you. Now-a-days I use a bit of a hotch potch. This was also posted by someone on Apple forums and confirmed by others to work: Two ways : 1/ use the uninstaller from the Western Digital driver software (worked for me) I like your comment about designing SW so that if it is going to die, it does it in real time. http://divxdelisi.com/time-machine/time-machine-backup-error-11.html
I backup with a Time Capsule over our wireless network and I know for sure this problem existed well before I purchased a WD drive just for local storage. This is the ideal thing to do, but I find that when Time Machine is really hung this rarely works. Fixing problems over the internet is incredibly difficult! What this does is cut off all power to the system board.
