After that I re-selected the disk as my backup and it seems to work fine. For me - a typical backup of my MacBook Pro is about 60 gig for a full backup. My wired ethernet is gigabit. My wireless is 802.11n 5GHz - about 300 Or an app to do it or something? The name of the sparse bundle has to be something very specific which is made up from a few pieces of information unique to your set-up. No idea what those are. Terminal seems to accept the command (doesn't respond with an error), but also no the root# prompt. You must create a backup to get rid of the error prompting or data loss in your system.
It does not cover most problems specific to Time Capsules or other wireless backups. See Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule, and/or Apple’s Time Capsule forum, in the wireless section. If the backup name was dependant on the network connection used this wouldn't work. try that and I hope it helps. Mine worked fine (with the same disk) for a few years, then about a year ago I started having this problem.
