i changed the default Time Capsule Name (via the AirPort Utility) to 'TimeCapsule', and that is when the problems with Time Machine backups began. Hope this can help anyone else with the issue. I can open and restore from my previous backups whic is odd. It happens the same time when I try to manually backup - so I think thats related somehow.
