Not too sure but it all seems fine now.If you happen to get the error message above you may want to just check your backup volumes to see if you've got They may have a file opened or attempt to open it while Time Machine is doing its thing. Try deleting that to see if it allows your backups to continue. I have a 1 TB backup drive that was working perfectly until i upgraded to snow leopard before christmas '11- then this error started popping up.

Hi - for those people (like me) who are having a problem actually deleting the .inprogress file, I've found that if you relaunch Finder (Apple Menu->Force Quit...->Select Finder->Click Relaunch), this then The error associated with the problem is: Unable to complete backup. Any confirmation out there? So we could wipe and restart our Time Machine backups without worrying that we’d lose any crucial data—there are plenty of other copies. Apple makes no representations regarding third-party website accuracy or reliability. As I mentioned above, I had a particular Growl file (a patch subsequently fixed that issue) that was causing problems.
I am running from a normal (non-admin) user account. Open Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities. Since there was an error creating a folder, I guessed that the disk might have some errors, so I ran Disk Utility. Why not?
