Time Machine Errors Snow Leopard
The new backup still has about 74gb to complete, but that's a lot farther than I got before. Everything is happy now, including me. Tell it to skip the verification step -- it takes forever. When I check, it seems it has substituted WD_Backup for my computer login again.I'm not sure why it's making a substitution.I'm also having trouble using the drive from my ThinkPad, which have a peek here

For me I think the problem was that I had named my backup drive with a name that had punctuation in the name. I expect an Apple Tech or a Senior Advisor to be sufficiently trained and capable of resolving what appears to be a problem publicly shared by a number of Apple users.

I tried 3 times with Carbon Copy Cloner but it failed everytime. I tried your fix without success (although it is a great description of a fix), then realized if I physically disconnect the drive (even though the system can read and recognize If so, does anyone know of a way to create a boot CD or image from a Windows computer because that's the only other machine I have access to.
Little did I know it wasn't going to be as easy as usual.After plugging in and initiating the backup, Time Machine took over 20 minutes to prepare the data - it Now I am able to backup successfully. To get around that, I have a non-TM drive that uses Mac Extended format to which I manually copy folders from my portable, FAT32 drive. I am new to whole mac thing. Be extremely careful when using Terminal. It is a direct command-line interface into UNIX, the underpinning of OSX. Unlike the Finder, there are few protections against making a mistake, which can I simply did nothing and TM cleaned itself up on the next regularly scheduled backup an hour later, as I had suspected. The app was non-critical so it was deleted and now the server backups are successfully completing. I thought this was messing with the time so I deleted it and restored the defaults by restoring Time Machine's LaunchDaemons in the system library from an earlier backup. I changed the name of the "Backups.backupdb" folder and two other files that were in the first directory of the TM drive. http://divxdelisi.com/time-machine/time-machine-errors-lion.html I think that Apple doesn't like this, so I tried to rename the backup drive.

I got the same message but my drive has completely failed.
I have both TM and Super Duper on my external drive. I restarted once more and then tried to use TM. My backups are going as scheduled thanks to you! turned out to be some mp3s.
Oh well. In this case Time Machinewill popup another dialog giving you the option of keeping the Original file, the Restored copy, or Both.View Mail and iPhoto Archives, Browse Other Disks or Restore David... Somehow, all my backup data has disappeared as well.
